Kanzashi Flowers on Hair Pins

I found these adorable hairpins on Pinterest but the site did not explain how to make them.  I found this tutorial on YouTube and voila I was able to make a hair clip for my daughter!! This is how I did it:

• Cut several fabric squares 3" x 3" or desired size.

• I had to watch it a couple of times - my brain doesn't do Origami-esque manuevers very well!! LOL.
• After I made the flower - I hot glued a button to the center - then hot glued the whole thing to a hair clip (the snappy/bendy kind) - or you could glue it to a headband or bobby pin.
• Here is a pic of the first one I made.  Woo Hoo - these are so cute and soooo easy to make!

Fall Fabric Scraps Wreath

This is such an easy wreath to make!!!  Here is how I did it:

1. Buy a wire wreath form from Michaels or JoAnn's or wherever...($3.00 )
2. I chose 4 coordinating "fall" fabrics - about 1 yard each. (varies)
3. Cut strips of fabric using pinking shears roughly about 1.4" x 5.5"
4. Tie strips around the wire form till full!!
5. I added a little scarecrow I found at JoAnns ($1.50).

AND VOILA - you are finished!! This was a great Mother/Daughter project!  Don't you just love fall colors?!!!



My Autumn Bead Lady!

I found a cool book at Michael's Craft store about how to make felt art scenes using wooden bead people and pipe cleaners! I so wish I could have bought the book - but it was a little pricey - so I had to come up with my own designs.  This is so much fun to do - the sky is the limit! This is how I made mine:

• First I cut - to size - a piece of blue felt.  To be on the safe side - I whip stitched around the edges with embroidery thread to keep the felt from fraying in the future...plus I think it gives it kind of an artsy/craftsy feel.
• I made the wooden bead lady from - yes you guessed it - a wooden bead and a body made from pipe cleaners.  I wrapped the pipe cleaners with the desired color of embroidery thread.
• Then I made a simple outfit for my lady - I wanted her to look like a flower or like mother nature. So I made her outfit out of yellow, white, and green felt and put it all together on the pipe cleaner figure using a glue gun.
• Then I cut out a tree, some fall leaves, a fence post, a sun, and a few sun flowers out of felt - and tacked them down with thread - again just using a simple whip stitch. 
• Then I made a few cloud swirls by embroidering with white embroidery thread.
• Oh...I used sharpies (fine point) to make her eyes and lips.

I still haven't decided how to frame this - given the diameter of the bead.  Maybe I'll just hot glue it to a painted canvas !

Snowman Sled

I am getting so psyched about Christmas this year so I've decided to start early.  I found a darling sled at Michaels Craft Store.  I had a 50% off one item coupon so it ended up only costing me about $5.00!  So here are my directions:

• Paint base of sled hunter green.
• Choose a coloring page from a coloring book or download and print a coloring page from the internet.
• Transfer image using graphite paper and a pencil.
• I made our last name by using Word Art in the Publisher program.
• Paint image as desired!!
• Go over what is left of the hunter green background with an aqua blue wash (craft paint + water) or whatever color you desire.
• Put brush on snow on the snow and on your name if you so desire.
• Seal with a spray acrylic sealer.
• Voila! It is finished.

This is a fun, easy, and cheap project.  I can't wait for Christmas to come so I can hang up my sled!
