I was so mad at myself for messing up the quilting. The back of this quilt is a train wreck! Hence it is now a wall hanging instead of a quilt to snuggle in.  BUT....I did find a great tutorial to help me to prevent the back from puckering next time.  Who knew to use a spray baster! Voila problem solved!!!

Have fun with this quilt! It is a great way to make a dent in the pile of scraps we all hoard!! Heh...admitting we have a problem is the first step toward recovery. : )

"Dresden Plate" Tie Quilt Wall Hanging

These are three "dresden plate" pattern quilted tie wall hanging I made for a friend.  I think this is a nice tribute to a father don't you think?

Instead of buying an acrylic dresden plate template - I just made one out of card stock and used a chalk pencil to mark my cut lines.  There are several great tutorials out there that give directions on how to cut dresden patterns from ties.  The one I found most helpful is: http://www.ludlowquiltandsew.co.uk/free-quilt-and-sew-patterns/free-quilt-patterns/silk-necktie-quilt-pattern/.  It gives you the gist of how to cut the pattern from a tie.  As you can see - I made my own quilt design.  I kept it simple, and added a yo - yo rosette in the center.

The pillow covers on my couch were never really "me "- so I decided to crochet new covers.  I basically started with a granny square...and kept feeding it chocolate!! : )

Kanzashi Flowers on Hair Pins

I found these adorable hairpins on Pinterest but the site did not explain how to make them.  I found this tutorial on YouTube and voila I was able to make a hair clip for my daughter!! This is how I did it:

• Cut several fabric squares 3" x 3" or desired size.

• I had to watch it a couple of times - my brain doesn't do Origami-esque manuevers very well!! LOL.
• After I made the flower - I hot glued a button to the center - then hot glued the whole thing to a hair clip (the snappy/bendy kind) - or you could glue it to a headband or bobby pin.
• Here is a pic of the first one I made.  Woo Hoo - these are so cute and soooo easy to make!

Fall Fabric Scraps Wreath

This is such an easy wreath to make!!!  Here is how I did it:

1. Buy a wire wreath form from Michaels or JoAnn's or wherever...($3.00 )
2. I chose 4 coordinating "fall" fabrics - about 1 yard each. (varies)
3. Cut strips of fabric using pinking shears roughly about 1.4" x 5.5"
4. Tie strips around the wire form till full!!
5. I added a little scarecrow I found at JoAnns ($1.50).

AND VOILA - you are finished!! This was a great Mother/Daughter project!  Don't you just love fall colors?!!!
